My creative writing class is currently working on short stories, and just like last semester with poetry I am challenging myself to write with them.
I have not written a short story since college specifically for a creative writing class. SHORT fiction has never been a concept I’m entirely comfortable with. I always want to right more, delve into what’s next.
Still, as any good writer knows stretching what feels comfortable is always important. It isn’t easy, and so far I’ve only completed one short story… and it doesn’t feel complete. But, I’m making the effort.
In the end, I think I’ll learn something from this experience. And at worst? I’m writing. Not bad at all.
