I’ve talked about music as inspiration before, about creating playlists for novels I’m writing, about certain songs just moving me to write. For me writing and music are linked, both ways of telling stories.
My creative writing students are doing an assignment where they write a short story inspired by a song. As with most assignments, I’ll be tackling this one too (once I catch up on grading). But, even just in the planning stages I am having fun trying to decide what song I want to use as inspiration.
Go literal? More figurative/mood setting?
And because I am me, what’s supposed to be a short story will likely turn into a novel idea.
I never struggle to find ideas, but I always like trying new ways of coming up with them.
