My current WIP is a rewrite. I’ve changed quite a bit, tweaked characters, added depth to motivation, changed the conflict a little. Most of the writing thus far has been completely new, basically starting over.
There were two chapters I wanted to keep a lot of, though, and as I have gotten to that point, I’ve found myself doing something I’ve never done before.
I’m writing backwards. I start with the end of the chapter and write to the first, filling, changing, fixing, all the way up to the beginning. Then I have to go through and read it to make sure it makes sense, but as I’m infusing the new changes with the old writing, I’m going backwards.
It’s been an interesting experience. I kind of like it. It’s helped me work on focusing more on making events… purposeful. It’s just a new kind of focus, and a fun and interesting one.
I’m not yet at the rewriting process with my manuscript. That sounds like an interesting way to do it though.
It was very interesting. Especially I didn’t even really realize I was doing it at first! Thanks for commenting.
Good luck with your rewrite! 🙂
Thank you!
That’s a new one Nicole 🙂 Definitely an interesting idea. I’m a big fan of going with what works. Happy backwards writing!
