I am not a big Halloween person in most respects. I hate scary movies. Ghost stories scare the bejeezus out of me (and not in a fun way). I’m not creative when it comes to costumes.
I do enjoy decorating for Halloween, carving pumpkins, and most importantly CANDY. Let’s be honest, for me, Halloween is ALL about the candy. My favorite thing to do on Halloween? Buy candy I LOVE but comes with a bunch of flavors I don’t like (for example, Jolly Ranchers & Now&Laters) and give out all the icky flavors and keep the good ones. I have a very scientific system of handing out Halloween candy. Least favorite candy goes first, keep the good stuff for only if you run out of the less than best stuff.
Saturday we took my son to Boo in the Zoo, an event at the zoo where a bunch of local businesses give out candy. He is very shy, but he did pretty well. We’ll be taking him trick-or-treating for the first time tonight, and it will be interesting to see how he does.

But the best part? There are plenty of types of candy he can’t eat yet, which mean they’re ALL mine.
