Something I’ve seen going around author’s blogs lately is a meme to share a piece of your writing based on the following:
- Go to page 77 of your current manuscript or WIP.
- Go to line 7.
- Copy down the next 7 sentences and post them as written.
Since I’m gearing up for the release of my first book, I thought I’d go ahead and share from All’s Fair in Love & Politics.
Page 77
“You’re awfully pretty in the moonlight, Abby.” He brushed a hand over her tousled hair and part of her wished she could lean into him, cling for a little while. It wasn’t possible. This was ill advised and downright idiotic. It had to stop.
“Doug—”
He took a long, shuddering breath, let it out.

That first line is one of the few lines that actually made it through all versions of the book. I changed a lot from that first draft, but Doug and Abby’s kiss in the moonlight was an image that never went away for me.
All’s Fair releases in three weeks! I can’t wait.
