What I’m Up To: Waiting Gets Easier

One thing about this whole published business that never goes away is waiting. Publishing = waiting. I am waiting to hear back on two different submissions and will have another ready to go at the end of the month.

Still, it’s easier to wait than it was earlier this year because I have a contract right now. I also have an editor who is interested to see the second book in my series. It doesn’t mean I don’t check how much longer I have to wait on those other submissions or that I’ll shrug off possible rejections, it just means I am busy with things I *know* people want to see. That’s nerve wracking in it of itself, but it doesn’t factor into that desperate waiting in between contracts.

I’m plugging along, trying to get as much done in August as I can since September will bring the first round of edits for Seven-Night Stand. Both exciting and scary all at the same time.

  1. Good to know that it sort of gets a little easier later. Right now I’m waiting to hear back from one submission and have nothing else going. All I can really do is just keep writing other things, look for other ways to get published, and try to not hit refresh on my Inbox so much. Think I’m going to drive myself nuts doing that.

    • I have so been there. Even after my first book came out when I was trying to get a second contract. Now, easy probably isn’t the right word, but knowing I have a contracted book to work on, it’s less obsessive about what the next thing is going to be.

Good luck on your submission. Keep writing & submitting!
