The picture in my header below was taken on the beach in La Jolla, California when I was on vacation. I chose to use this picture for my writing blog because it felt like the perfect (if maybe a little cheesy) visual description of what the writing journey is.
You’ve got yourself, a small amount of tools, and nothing but uncertainty in front of you. That emptiness seems endless, and while you might have certain land marks to reach, you never really know where you’re going to end up. (Okay, I guess that’s life too).
But there’s a certain peace in the picture. The vibrancy of the colors in the sail and the lone figure looking out on the horizon reminds me that writing is powerful too. Because it’s just me and what I see when I’m writing. It’s my own personal journey. And often times there is a certain comfort in being alone to make sense of the world.
